Project Tracking with CMPRO

CMPRO provides simple project management (PM) capabilities that can be used to track activities at the task/sub-task level of granularity. Reports are available for viewing progress, current status, scheduled completion dates and other metrics associated with a project.

One of the benefits of using CMPRO for project management is the integration of workflow into the PM process. In CMPRO, Action Items for projects are generated using a workflow-enabled form. That means that you can route and track Action Items just like any other workflow form in CMPRO. The project management feature in CMPRO in conjunction with a workflow process allows management to:

• Track budget related items including labor costs, material, and travel
• Generate statistics for a single or all of the project’s subtask and action item status
• Export project and subtasks to MS Project
• Duplicate a project’s task and subtasks for speeding up the project creation process
• View the project tree and package status
• Create a plan and track progression and successes

The collaborative work environment allows for polling and discussions that can assist management in making decisions about project concerns. Information gathered from this collaborative work environment (or any other source) can initiate changes which are managed in CMPRO with the Document Change Notice workflow form.

Change management is an important aspect of project management. CMPRO has some "out of the box" change control documents used for controlling the creation and revision of documents in the Document Repository. All of the information about a document or drawing, including changes, is recorded in baselines.

Baselines in CMPRO serve as a central control mechanism for managing product data over time. They have a part-based hierarchy, are fully integrated with repositories, can be manually populated, and support the CMII model. Using baselines allows businesses to effectively organize and manage information about the products and systems for which they are responsible.
